SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Multiple reports from Springfield say law enforcement agents raided the capitol office of Sen. Martin Sandoval this morning. Reports indicate Sandoval’s office suite is blocked off and that a state officer claimed the feds are present.

The 55-year-old Sandoval is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate and has been serving his Chicago area district since 2003.

Sandoval is not responding and neither is his district office. None of the secretaries in that suite are picking up their phones.

Sandoval recently was embroiled in controversy after photos surfaced from a fundraiser he held showed someone in a mask depicting President Donald Trump, wearing traditional Mexican clothes, and taking part in a mock assassination.

Sandoval apologized for the incident and claimed he was unaware it had happened at his event and blamed a vendor hired to play music at the fundraiser.
