MARION COUNTY — The defense has asked for a fitness evaluation for a 49-year-old Centralia man found guilty in Marion County court of sexually assaulting a child.

Carl L. Privatt was found guilty in May of Class X felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13.
Defense and prosecution agreed prior to May’s bench trial to cap any sentence at 30 years in prison if Privatt was convicted.

He was scheduled to be sentenced Friday but the motion for a fitness evaluation has delayed sentencing.
Privatt remains in the Marion County Jail with a status hearing on the evaluation scheduled for October 11.
