Eric Palazzolo was arrested by Centralia police over the weekend. He was formally charged in court Monday with two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer. The court then filed a motion to have Palazzolo tested for infectious diseases.
According to Marion County State’s Attorney Bill Milner, Palazollo was bleeding from the mouth when officers responded to a domestic disturbance call. After officers arrived at Palazzolo’s Holiday Terrace home, he allegedly struck an officer in the face with his elbow and then spit blood and saliva in the officer’s face.
Both the officer and Palazollo were treated at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment before Palazollo was taken to the Marion County Jail.
Bail for Palazzolo was set at $25,000 and he’s scheduled for an October 22 preliminary hearing and first appearance with a court appointed attorney.
