JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Health Department on Friday reported its third COVID-19 death.
According to health officials, the man in his 70s had been hospitalized with the novel coronavirus when he died. He had been a resident of a long-term care facility and had been hospitalized since April 14.
The Health Department is also reporting an additional positive case, a teenage girl.
To date, there have been 79 lab-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County. Three of those have resulted in deaths.
Eight of the positive cases have now been released from isolation.
Clinton County on Thursday reported one death from the novel coronavirus and eight new positive cases for a total of 59 patients infected. 265 Clinton County residents have been tested, 15 have recovered, 39 remain quarantined and four remain hospitalized.
Fayette County on Thursday reported its second virus-related death in a woman in her 90s who had been a resident of a long-term care facility. The county also announced an additional positive case bringing its total infections to 16 with 122 people tested.
Marion County on Friday reported its 26th positive COVID-19 case. 398 tests have been given in Marion County with 372 returning negative.
