
IUKA, Ill. — Perry Long, 71, of Iuka, Illinois passed away July 11, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
He was born June 1952, in Iuka, the son of Harold Long and Helen A. (Perry) Long.
Perry is survived by his children: Steven Long and wife Elizabeth of Fairfield, Richard Long and Christinia Blake of Odin, Melissa Owen and husband Josh of Evansville, Indiana, and Galen Long and wife Jami of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren: Claudia, Andrew, Gracie, Austin, Leah, Micah, Makenzie and Haylee; a niece: Nikki Long of Iuka; a nephew: Scott Long of Salem; and best friends and caregivers: Jim Phillips and wife Phyllis of Salem And Clifford Phillips of Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Helen Long and brother: Randy Long.
Perry worked as a Pressman at Salem Garbure Division of World Color Press for 28 years. He also worked at NAL for several years until he retired. During retirement he wanted a little part job to keep him occupied, he would detail vehicles and help do odds and ends in the shop at Max Dye.
Perry served in the US Army National Guard. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Perry cherished his family and his beloved dog: Rufus.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 till the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lovells Grove 1880 Cemetery in Omega. Military Rites will be accorded at the gravesite by the Salem American Legion Post 128.
