Everett Ray Baltzell, 80, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:24 a.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois.

He was born January 29, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Ray and Florence (Gullick) Baltzell. On June 29, 1996, he married Sharon Kay Latta, and she preceded him in death on September 19, 2017.

He is survived by son, Michael Baltzell and wife Jessie of O’Fallon, Illinois; grandchildren, Mariah Goewert and husband Max and Tyler Baltzell; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Eleanor Goewert; bonus children, Suez Foster, Kim Bang, and Kent Hails; 6 bonus grandchildren; 4 bonus great-grandchildren; brothers, Delbert Baltzell and wife Debbie, Jesse Baltzell, and Gene Baltzell; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Sharon Kay Baltzell, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Florence Baltzell; and granddaughter, Sarah Foster Roeder.

Funeral services for Mr. Baltzell will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Pastor Larry Woodward officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson-Smith Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
