Donald Bailey, 86, of Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at 3:41 pm June 25, 2025 at Stonebridge Memory Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born April 12, 1939 in Keenes, IL to George Bailey and Alberta Bailey. Donald married Jane (Estes) Bailey in Waynesville, MO and celebrated 63 years of marriage together.

Donald is survived by his children, Mark Bailey of Dix, IL, Debbie (Quint) Richardson of Mount Vernon, IL and Randy (Chelsea) Bailey of Mount Vernon, IL; sister-in-law, Sue (Bud) Garner of Topeka, KS; grandsons, Branden (Preston Ward) Bailey; granddaughters, Kaci (Andrew) Smart of Indianapolis, IN, Kelsey (Dustin) Shelton of Marion, IL, Olivia  Bailey of St. Louis, MO, Madison Bailey of Mount Vernon, IL, Kylee Halbin of Mount Vernon, IL and Cayce (Alex) Blaise of Murphysboro, IL, T.J (Ashley) Halbin of Mount Vernon, IL; great-grandsons, Oliver Smart, Jameson Shelton, Brooks Blaise, Treaven Halbin, Jerikhai Halbin and Ktai Halbin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Owen Bailey and brother-in-law, Calvin Estes.

Donald spent many years operating heavy equipment and was a member of operating Engineers Local 520 and UMWA Local 2117 for many years. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon and a member of Elks Lodge 819 in Mt. Vernon. Donald was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed open wheel dirt track racing. He loved cheering on the MTV Rams Basketball Team and was a season ticket holder for 60 years.

A private service will be held. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
