Martha Ann Flota, 86, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:14 am June 25, 2025 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. She was born October 10, 1938 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to the late Owen Russel Irvin and Elizabeth Ileen (Gammon) Irvin.

Martha is survived by her children, Deanne Kujawa and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, IL, Mark Flota and wife, Pam of Mount Vernon, IL, Larry Flota and special friend, Stephanie Huston of Mt. Vernon, IL, Julie Wheeler and husband, Chuck of Mount Vernon, IL and Steve Flota of Mount Vernon, IL; eleven grandchildren, Michael Flota and wife, Dana of Woodlawn, IL, Michelle Flota of Mount Vernon, IL, Emily VanHoorebeke and fiance, John Snodsmith of Mount Vernon, IL, Blake Wheeler and wife, Katie of Mount Vernon, IL, Chelsea McMahon and husband, Kent of Mount Vernon, IL, Jessica Flota of Mount Vernon, IL, Bryce Kujawa and wife, Lea of Mount Vernon, IL, Lexi Flota and fiance, Bradley Rose of Woodlawn, IL, Justyn Flota of Mount Vernon, IL, Brooke Tate and husband, Mason of Mount Vernon, IL and Abbie Flota of Mount Vernon, IL; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Irvin and wife, Becky of Bartlett, TN; sister, Ileen Stevens and husband, Gary of Normal, IL; brother, Terry Irvin and wife, Pam of Fulshear, TX; sister-in-law, Kathy Reu of Greenville, IL; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Valerie Kay Flota.

Martha was an active member of Logan Street Baptist Church for over 75 years. She enjoyed playing in Bridge Club and spending time with her Casual Twenties Friend Club.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Martha’s honor to Logan Street Building Fund or Ronald McDonald House.
