
MARION, IL — The City of Marion recognizes Harry L. Crisp II, Chairman and CEO of Pepsi MidAmerica, as the First Citizen of Marion, Illinois. This honor celebrates his exceptional service, leadership, and dedication to our community. On May 25, 2025, Mayor Michael W. Absher issued a proclamation acknowledging Mr. Crisp’s significant contributions across various fields, including business, education, military service, and civic engagement.
The recognition was formally presented during a special ceremony on June 2, 2025. Following this prestigious local acknowledgment, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker further honored Mr. Crisp with a State Proclamation on June 3, 2025. This statewide recognition underscores Mr. Crisp’s remarkable legacy and influence. Born with a spirit of service, Mr. Crisp served his country as a United States Marine, earning accolades for his outstanding performance and dedication. His commitment to military service continues through the involvement of his son and grandson. In education, Mr. Crisp’s impact is profound. As a founding trustee of John A. Logan College, he has played pivotal roles in leadership at Southern Illinois University (SIU), Eastern Illinois University (EIU), Murray State University, and the University of Tennessee, championing accessible and high-quality education. His civic and political leadership is equally impressive. He has served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention and as a member of the National Republican Senate Inner Circle. Mr. Crisp has been honored with titles such as Illinois Lincoln Laureate, Kentucky Colonel, and Duke of Paducah, receiving numerous distinctions from civic and business organizations throughout the region. Under Mr. Crisp’s leadership, Pepsi MidAmerica has flourished as a major regional employer and economic contributor. His entrepreneurial ventures extend to Crisp Container Company, Crisp Realty, and Crisp Investments, and his contributions to the beverage industry have been recognized with his induction into the Beverage World Soft Drink Hall of Fame.
In addition to his business achievements, Mr. Crisp has served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Marion for over three decades, including time as Chairman, playing a crucial role in guiding the financial development and sustainability of our local community.
