CENTRALIA – A Centralia Police officer has been cited in connection with an accident involving his squad car earlier this month.
According to police, a Centralia officer was responding to an active domestic call on the east side of town around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, when a call came in about the accident involving another officer’s squad car at 5th and Elm Street.
Centralia Fire and Centralia EMS were dispatched to the scene. Per Centralia Police Department policy, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department was notified to investigate the accident. Centralia Police Sergeant Stephen Perry and the driver of the other vehicle involved refused medical treatment.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department completed the investigation and issued Sergeant Stephen Perry two citations, Disobeying a Stop Sign and Driving on a Expired Driver’s License and given an Aug. 18 court date.
An internal Centralia Police investigation into the accident is ongoing.
