
Jessie “Pug” Wilson, 90, of Walnut Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor, in Mt. Vernon.
She was born June 22, 1935, in Walnut Hill, the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Ferguson) Phelps. On July 26, 1953, in Springer Church, she married Billy Joe Wilson, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2018.
She graduated from Woodlawn High School, and was a member of Boyd Christian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, and loved music, and with her husband, sang in the Celebration Choir. She worked for the Dress Factory/Miss Elaine for nineteen years, and also worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and Lutheran Children and Family Services, prior to her retirement. She lived in the home she was born in.
She is survived by her sons, Danny Joe Wilson and wife Sue of Woodlawn, and Gregory Todd Wilson and wife Sue of Woodlawn; six granddaughters; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Billy Joe Wilson, she was preceded in death by her parents, and eleven siblings.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Boyd Cemetery, with Steve Bratton officiating.
