
Maurice Dewitt Clinton, 87, of Kell, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his home.
He was born August 31, 1938, in Whittington, Illinois, the son of Joseph Ewing and Hazel Marie (Sneed) Clinton. In 1976, in Boyd, Illinois, he married Versa Elaine Douthit, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2025.
Mr. Clinton was a graduate of Benton High School, in Benton, Illinois, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Pleasant View Free Will Baptist Church, in Walnut Hill, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, all things agriculture, and taking care of his cows (“The Girls”).
He is survived by his children, Beverly Gilbreath and husband Patrick of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Dale Clinton of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Apryl Ruiz and husband Fabian of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amanda Dotson, Chad Blalock, and Mia Gilbreath of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Maris Clinton, Cray Clinton, Callon Clinton, and Myla Clinton of Streamwood, Illinois, and Giliane Ruiz and Roberto Ruiz of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Caden Dotson, Cole Dotson, Knox Blalock, and Baker Blalock of Dyersburg, Tennessee; brother, Marlin Clinton and wife Bonnie of Lockport, Illinois; and sisters, Sue Yosanovich and husband John of Buckner, Illinois, and Nancy Stallard of Odin, Illinois.
In addition to his wife, Elaine Clinton, he was preceded in death by a son, Jarred Clinton; his parents, Joe and Hazel Clinton; and brothers, Jim Clinton, Eddie Clinton, and Jody Clinton.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded for Mr. Clinton, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Pleasant View Free Will Baptist Church, and will be accepted by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, Illinois 62830.
