CLINTON COUNTY — If you have unwanted medications, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office wants you to know of a safer alternative available before you store it, flush it, or toss it in the trash.

In a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension, the sheriff’s office is offering a Medicine Take Back program that is

available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week for area residents.

Two drop-off locations are available in Clinton County, one at the sheriff’s office at 810 Franklin Street in Carlyle, and at the Trenton Police Department at 25 West Indiana Street in Trenton.

You’re urged to only drop off medications from your household members or pets, leave the medications in their original prescription containers, and black out your name on the label of the container.

Medical sharps and needles or syringes will not be accepted, nor will compressed cylinders or aerosols such as asthma inhalers.
