BEACH PARK, Ill. (AP) — A collision between a school bus and a semi-truck in suburban Chicago has left several students injured.
Beach Park school district officials say the bus from Kenneth Murphy Elementary School was involved in the Wednesday afternoon crash along Green Bay Road near Major Avenue. At least seven of the 50 students aboard the bus suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Lake County Sheriff’s spokesman Christopher Covelli says the injured students were taken to Vista Medical Center East and West.
Officials say the majority of the students aboard the bus were being returned to the school, where parents are expected to pick them up.
Covelli wouldn’t comment on the cause of the crash, but damage was showing at both the rear and front ends of the bus, which was sandwiched between two semi-trucks.
