CHICAGO (AP) — A former clerk for the Cook County Recorder of Deeds has pleaded guilty to taking a $200 bribe for preparing a back-dated deed on a Chicago-area home.

Regina Taylor entered a guilty plea to one count of honest services mail fraud in a plea deal with prosecutors. The 59-year-old Chicagoan will be sentenced in April.

Prosecutors say Taylor took the bribe to add someone as a fourth owner of a property. Three other owners were dead and Taylor allegedly told the person not to tell anyone else that.

The person who asked for the paperwork turned out to be an undercover agent.

The one count carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence. But the plea deal calculates a sentencing advisory range of between 10 to 16 months behind bars.
