CHICAGO (AP) — A judge has ordered that a 21-year-old suburban Chicago man facing terrorism charges be committed to a U.S. medical center in North Carolina for psychological testing.

Adel Daoud is accused of trying to ignite a bomb outside a Chicago bar in 2012. It was part of an FBI sting.

Wednesday’s order says the tests would determine if Daoud is suffering from mental illness and can’t participate at trial. Previous exams found him competent.

But Daoud told Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman in August there’s a conspiracy to get him that includes plans for a trial where “jurors are Freemasons hired by the judge.” He made similar claims in a recent letter to Coleman.

Daoud’s trial date was Jan. 5. Coleman cancelled it in December and hasn’t set a new trial date.
