DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — Elementary school children in Decatur are using tablet computers to do research and make presentations.

The Decatur School District is providing iPad minis to students in kindergarten through second grade. Older students get iPad Airs.

The Herald & Review in Decatur reports that students will be able to post their work on a Google site that parents will be able to access from home.

Garfield Montessori School Principal Mary Anderson says the devices will be treated as a learning tool and be used, as needed, throughout the day.

High school students have had laptops since they moved into their renovated buildings.
