QUINCY, Ill — The push to hire new nurses for the veterans home in Quincy has some Illinois unions and the state once again on opposite sides.
Managers at the Quincy home say they need nurses. But the Illinois Nurses Association says the home is trying to skirt laws that require union nurses be hired.
VA spokesman Dave MacDonna says the home can’t find enough nurses, so they’re looking to subcontract a few jobs. The Nurses Association says it’s worried the state will privatize the jobs.
