FAYETTE COUNTY — A 39-year-old Vandalia man was sentenced Thursday in Fayette County Court to 2-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he entered into a plea agreement with the state on a May 2015 drug case.

Sean E. Kessler pleaded guilty to Class 3 felony possession of less than 3-grams of methamphetamine in exchange for having two misdemeanor charges of possessing drug paraphernalia dismissed.

Kessler was given credit for 163 days served in jail and ordered to pay court costs, as well as serve one year mandatory supervised release at the end of his prison term.

He was initially arrested in May on a pending charge of forgery, but was instead formally charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. He has remained in the Fayette County Jail since his May arrest, with bail set at $50,000.
