CENTRALIA — The Centralia Fire Department is alerting the public that they are not soliciting funds through phone calls.

The department reports they will not receive any funds collected from phone calls recently being made in the area from people claiming they are collecting for area fire departments and for the fallen firefighter’s foundation.

The fire department warns the phone calls are part of a scam and if you receive such a call you should not agree to donate and should simply hang up.
