Betty L. Pauley, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:29 pm December 10, 2022 at her residence.

She was born September 4, 1930 in Boone County, Indiana to the late Claude and Ada Carmolette Elizabeth (Pittenger-Smith) Armstrong.

Betty married Richard Keith “Dick” Pauley on August 1, 1948 in Boone County. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage before his passing on August 2, 1994.Betty is survived by her children, children, Monna Pauley, Linda Conroy, Steve and Annette Connaughton, and Julian and Bonnie Payne; grandchildren, Sean and Chelsea Conroy, Mike and Cambrea Antonelli, Justin and LeCheire Connaughton, Caleb and Alicia Konopka, Jacob and Karisa Green, Brett and Ashley Payne, Tim and Brittney Boldt, Mike Payne, and Chris Payne; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Steve Pauley; son-in-law, Kevin Conroy; and siblings, Loren Armstrong and Genette Weber. Betty was a faithful member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Mount Vernon, Illinois. She served in many leadership positions in churches over the years.

Betty volunteered at Victory Christian Academy for several years working with students on home economic projects. Betty’s favorite pastime was spending time with family. Cooking and crafting was also a wonderful pastime. She especially enjoyed knitting. Nearly every grandchild and great-grandchild has a knitted blanket that she designed and created herself. Betty had also greatly enjoyed every aspect of planning and being a guide for the members of Peoples Pier 55, from scheduling each festivity on the bus to the activities at the destination.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Christian Fellowship Church in Mount Vernon. A Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm at Cox Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana. A Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tom Hunter officiating.
