Donald M. Leffler, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on December 12, 2022 at his residence. He was born June 14, 1937 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Malchom “Dink” and Arline (Hodge) Leffler. Donald married Sharon (Rector) Leffler on December 14, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. They were blessed with fifty-seven years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 8, 2014.

Donald is survived by his sons, Rick Leffler and wife, Rene’ of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Randy Leffler and wife, Diane of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandson, Justin Leffler and wife, Lindsey of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Michael Alexander Leffler and Kaylee Leffler; sister, Mildred Harvey of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents and wife, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Leffler; great-grandson, Michael; father and mother-in-law; all aunts and uncles; and grandparents, cousins, and many friends.

Mr. Leffler worked at Oliver Farm Dealer Bowen and Brehm, Illinois Tractor Allis-Chalmers Construction Equip, Great-Plains Gas, Bi-State Machinery as a parts manager, and Erb Equipment as a parts manager. Donald played softball and trombone in school. He enjoyed cars and managed little league baseball. He was past president of Jefferson County Shriners and a member of Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge. Donald attended Central Christian Church and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Don Rector officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Donald’s honor to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
