Dale P. Lowery, 85, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 11:15 pm May 15, 2026 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born September 29, 1940 in Bluford, Illinois to the late Denzil and Priscilla (McElravy) Lowery, Sr. Dale married Carolyn (Eiler) Lowery on July 16, 1960 and she preceded him in death on September 3, 2025.

Dale is survived by his sons, Kevin Lowery and wife, Lisa of Bluford, Illinois and Larry Lowery and wife, Julie of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren, Eric Lowery and wife, Megan of Johnstown, Colorado, Danara Gant and husband, Derek of Johnstown, Colorado, Jenna Guardian and husband, Stephen of Bradenton, Florida, and Kyle Lowery of Bradenton, Florida; great-grandchildren, Hadlee Lowery, Audra Lowery, Taryn Lowery, Rafe Gant, Riven Gant, and Stella Guardian; and brother, Denzil Lowery, Jr. of Mount Vernon.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Lowery; and sisters, Marjorie Rogers, Barbara Body, and Diane Powell.

Dale worked at Stan the Tire Man in Mount Vernon for over 57 years. He started there when he was 17 years old and became the owner/operator until it closed in 2015. He farmed most of his life, as well. Dale was a member of the Mount Vernon Lodge #31 A.F. and A.M., Jefferson County Shrine Club, Mount Vernon Kiwanis, and Mount Vernon Lions Club. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors for the Community First Bank of the Heartland in Mount Vernon.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Dale’s honor to Thomason Cemetery.
